A new set of towels

So I've been trying to figure out for a while why I like this particular brand of tea towels. Xochi.

I love them, buy them when I can and hang them in my kitchen when I'm not using my own creations. I finally realized I like these things about the packs that I buy:

1. They are good, absorbent material;
2. They are colorful and exciting fabrics;
3. They come in packs of 3 with coordinating patterns.

So then I thought, "Hey, I sew stuff. I sew towels! Why not sew towels with coordinating, colorful fabrics in sets of 3 that you can sell in packs?"

I know - it took me long enough. And I've got ideas of how this should work. But my first try with this genius idea is Alexander Henry's Coq de Granville fabric. I'm a huge fan and I have matching cotton towels to go with the reds and blues he used in designing these.

Can't finish them now, have to shower and get ready for an improv show I'm in with my team tonight. But I'm excited to finish them and list them on Etsy tomorrow!

NYC Tea Towels

I just found this NYC fabric which is awesome and I plan to make a lot of things out of it. But first, I made a tea towel for a friend's birthday and then a couple to sell on Etsy.com.

I'm off on vacation for about a week so I will be absent for a little while (which I have been anyway due to a very demanding schedule), but I'll be back soon and MAN do I have a lot of sewing to do! Quilts, towels, bags, napkins... you name it, I wanna make it.

But everybody needs a little down time and this will be a little bit of mine. Hope you are all enjoying Summer!

Hiiiii-yah! Super cool Asian-girl-kick-ass tote with skull interior

I am in love with this bag. Probably because it took me a long time to make it. I'm still experimenting and getting things to be a little better each time I make one. But how cute is this? I know, I know, I'm too proud of myself. But I love these fabrics and they compliment one another so well.

This is a small tote, perfect for Summer, that has two interior pockets - one smaller for a cell phone, and one for a wallet - and a key chain sewn in so you can locate your keys in the bag. The handles I have reinforced with twill tape so you can carry something a little heavier.

I already have a buyer for this one (and I may just keep this one myself and make her another one!) but I will be making more soon. I also have this Asian themed fabric in light blue and pink so I'll be making variations of this with those too.

Hope you like it!

Next Tote... A Teaser!

Check out these wild, awesome fabrics! I LOVE LOVE LOVE the Asian themed one with the kick ass girls. I will be making a bag for myself with one of these fabrics! I hope the sewing goes well, cuz this stuff is too good to waste.

Back soon with a more finished product.
