Union Jack Mod Girls Tea Towels for friends

I'm heading over to dinner to two friends who moved in together (a long time ago and I haven't been over since!) so I thought I'd bring them a couple of towels as a little house-warming present. I used this new fabric I just bought a ton of at a steal of a price because it is so cool I had to. At least, that's what I'm telling myself.

Excuse me, I have to get ready to drink Prosecco and eat a dinner someone else made for me. Sigh.

Sam's Quilt sans Binding

Here is the quilt I made for my good friend's 3 year old, Samantha. She is adorable and spirited and smart and I love her. I wanted to make her something for her "big girl bed" so I made a little bigger than the average baby quilt. I incorporated a lot of my favorite kid's fabrics into this one. I made mistakes, as usual, but all in all it's a pretty darn fun and pretty quilt. I hope she gets a lot of fun times out of this one.

G'night!

Skull Kitty Blanket - and Machine Binding on BOTH Sides

I'm teaching myself how to machine bind the front AND back of quilts... previously I have machine sewn the binding to the front of the quilt and hand sewn the binding on the back. It works just fine, but it takes FOREVER. And as my sewing schedule begins to increase I can't take 5 hours to sew the binding on one quilt. 20 mins is much better. But, like everything else in life, it takes practice. So I decided to make a quick kitty blanket to test out my sewing on. I will be making another one with the same fabric now that I've used this one as my experiment (my cats will be the lucky recipients of this treasure).

This kitty blanket is made with one of my favorite skull-themed fabrics with roses and hearts, and the backing is a thick, fleece with girlie skulls on it. It has batting in the middle and is really soft.

Now onto finishing Sam's quilt! I have promised to hand it off to her on Sunday... and one does not promise something lightly to a 3-year old. I'll post photos of it soon - it's all done except the binding.

Okay, almost done with Sam's quilt & BadGalQuilts T-shirts are in!

A friend of mine has a BGQ t-shirt, the cool, "distressed" kind that hipsters wear. The kind of tee that looks good on the boobs and is snug in a sexy way and a few friends of mine mentioned they wanted one. So I ordered some! They fit small so I got Mediums, Larges, and XLs.

Here they are! This is a sneak preview - they will soon be listed on my BadGalQuilts Etsy site.

Also, I managed to get Samantha's quilt done, except for the label and binding, for her birthday party so we got to show it to her. I will see her and her parents again this Sunday so I can hand it over then. It looks pretty good! I love the fabrics I used and like the color combination. I hope she gets a lot of use and love out of it!

Pssst.

Two more blocks are done. Made a mistake with one, but there you go. No time to stop and go back! One more block and we're on to finishing the quilt top etc. That's tomorrow. It's off to improv practice tonight!

Sssshhh! More blocks for the surprise quilt!

And now I'm going to bed after working on it for 12 hours approx.
Busy days coming up and I'm worried I won't finished. But I did 6 of 9 blocks today, so that's a start!

G'night.

Sssshhhhh! Working on a surprise last minute quilt.

I am making a 3-year-old a quilt and her birthday party is Sunday. I started it today. Kids are not like adults - you can't show up and say, "I'm working on a great project for you". So it's either got to be done, or we give her something else.

I want it to be done. I am using a lot of different colored fabrics... ones that I really love. I'm not sure how they will all go together, but it's a quilt fer goshsakes! It'll work out one way or another. I've done 3 blocks. I need to finish at LEAST 6 today if it's gonna have a hope in happening.

Here they are... and I'm back to the cutting/ironing board.
